And just how many Scooby Snacks are needed to get Shaggy and Scooby to be bait this week? All this and more await inside The Scooby Zone.
Hello and welcome to the Scooby Zone, the podcast, where there's nothing like a cheery greeting from your friendly neighborhood werewolf ghost as we watch a bit of Scooby-Doo Media. Yep. I'm Rob. And I'm Katie. And today we'll be watching Don't Fool with a Phantom.
SPEAKER_02The last one of Scooby-Doo Where Are You?
SPEAKER_00Yep, episode 25 of Scooby-Doo Where Are You?
SPEAKER_02Oh man, we're at the end, guys. I can't believe we're already here.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Definitely not expecting to be at the end already, but here we are. Kind of bittersweet to be at the end of our favorite series.
SPEAKER_00Yes. You know, end of one series.
SPEAKER_02On to the next one.
SPEAKER_00But so many more to come. So many more to come. You guys aren't done with us yet.
SPEAKER_02No, we're not done yet, guys. We got more to come.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. You know, we'll just be all be at this until we're 90.
SPEAKER_02Probably. Yeah, like your Wolverine buddy over there.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, like you Jackman playing Wolverine.
SPEAKER_02Right. Well, it'll be a little easier doing this into our 90s silent thing.
SPEAKER_00You know, I that depends. You know.
SPEAKER_02Dude, it would be really cool if we could like live in the same retirement home. Then we wouldn't be doing it into our 90s.
SPEAKER_00That'd be like But what if by then, like, the only content we have left is all like Velma quality.
SPEAKER_02I don't think I'd like that. Well, we would have to stop and do our our yearly reboot of the do our anniversaries every year and do special things or whatever. Oh man.
SPEAKER_00All right.
SPEAKER_02Oh gosh.
SPEAKER_00Guys can find us on Facebook at the Scooby Zone.
SPEAKER_03Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER_00You know, posting up what you know, give us an answer to whatever polls we decide to post up there. Yep. Or any other things that we end up posting up there. Yep. Slowly working on getting better at posting things.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, someone is, I guess. But it's not the best at doing that, I guess.
SPEAKER_00No.
SPEAKER_02No. No.
SPEAKER_00Go ahead and send us emails at ScoobyZonePodcast at gmail.com.
SPEAKER_01Yep.
SPEAKER_00You know, we'd love to hear from you guys.
SPEAKER_01We would.
SPEAKER_00You know, like and comment on Facebook. Comment on whatever platform you're listening to us on.
SPEAKER_02We like a certain someone who comments on YouTube and makes makes funny comments about it. Then he forget then he forgot that we even came back because someone say we came back. He got within one episode. Well, so what? It's probably gonna happen again. And then he's gonna have to comment on it because he's got confused the second time.
SPEAKER_00Probably, but probably.
SPEAKER_02Yep. Uh-huh.
SPEAKER_00You know, hold us accountable when we screw up, you guys.
SPEAKER_02Well, hold someone accountable because I had I had to jump in and say, hey, just go so you guys know we came back. I'm glad I did that. Because apparently someone didn't know what was going on.
SPEAKER_00Well, when you come up with a clever bit for the podcast and you forget about it, then I'll make sure I hold you accountable when you forget.
SPEAKER_02Sounds fair. We'll see when that happens, but that sounds about right. Okay. Oh man.
SPEAKER_00So don't fool with a phantom.
SPEAKER_02Nope. Don't fool, don't do it. Just don't do it. Not gonna end well.
SPEAKER_00Any predictions for the episode?
SPEAKER_02Think he's gonna be good at grabbing. Let's find out if he's good at grabbing. Since the other one didn't fare too well being last week's didn't fare too well being good at grabbing. So maybe this guy will be a little better, but he doesn't look like he's gonna move very fast, though. He looks like he could be kind of slow. So it'll be the slow grabbing. So we'll see how well that goes with how fast Shaggy and Scooby run around. We'll see how well that goes for him.
SPEAKER_00What expertise do you think we'll see from Shaggy this week?
SPEAKER_02Running away from a wax phantom that's really slow. Probably. Probably. Jabbing him with his little umbrella, too. He pretends to be a girl.
SPEAKER_00Yes. Do you think Fred's gonna have a competent trap?
SPEAKER_02Oh, he hasn't had too many of those, so I guess we'll see. Any of them work? Not very many of them have worked either. Yep. We'll have to all this and more waits for you guys in the Scooby Zone. Yes. Please join us. Let's see what happens. We'll be right there with you guys.
SPEAKER_00Yep. So we will we're gonna go ahead and split up and look for some clues. You guys too can too.
SPEAKER_02Yes, you can too. I would hope so.
SPEAKER_00You know, Scooby-Doo Where Are You is still streaming free on Tubi. Yep. Should still be on. No, you can still purchase it on DVD and Blu-ray off of Amazon and eBay or wherever videos are sold. I don't know if this episode made it to VHS.
SPEAKER_02Well, this one did not. I know I'm just talking in general, but I yeah, this one I definitely don't think made it to VHS. But I mean, this one I don't really miss not making it on to VHS because this one isn't exactly you know up to par with some of the other episodes that we've watched. But we I mean we've been fooled before, so I guess we'll see what happens.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, the amount of other times where we thought it was gonna be a know-nothing episode, and then it's like, oh wow, this was actually a really good one.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, let's see.
SPEAKER_00Uh whole media for this one. Mm-hmm. Complete first and second season DVD.
SPEAKER_02Oh, right.
SPEAKER_00Yep, that's definitely Complete Series DVD. Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER_02I don't think they really had anything. I mean, I could be wrong.
SPEAKER_00Then it's a bonus on Scooby-Doo Stage Fright.
SPEAKER_01Okay.
SPEAKER_00Happy Spook Day, Scooby-Doo DVD.
SPEAKER_01Okay.
SPEAKER_00Where are you? Complete series. Oh, they have that.
SPEAKER_02Spook for Wax Venom. Yeah. Old Waxy.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I guess this one was not on the VHS release, which I didn't think it would be. Was weird. You know, with how big Scooby was back in the night.
SPEAKER_02Like, yeah, that way too.
SPEAKER_00I remember a lot of Scooby merchandise back then.
SPEAKER_02I know. They had a lot of stuff out now.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Yep.
SPEAKER_00So we'll be back, you guys.
SPEAKER_02Yes, we will be back.
SPEAKER_00So we'll see you on the other side for this last mystery.
SPEAKER_02This last mystery, guys. We're on to the last one.
SPEAKER_00You know, until we get to the next series.
SPEAKER_02Until we get to the next series, then we're on to a whole new ball game here, guys.
SPEAKER_00Alright, so we'll be right back.
SPEAKER_02We will.
SPEAKER_00And we're back.
SPEAKER_02Oh, good. You actually said it this time. Good job. Round of applause for Rom. He said it right. Good job. Couldn't have done it without you.
SPEAKER_00That was don't fool with a phantom.
SPEAKER_02And you definitely don't want to fool with a phantom, guys.
SPEAKER_00Not this one. Definitely.
SPEAKER_02But especially not this one. Nope.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, this one was kind of hulking.
SPEAKER_02He was kind of hulking. Right? Yeah. Yeah. Definitely like that.
SPEAKER_00Okay. So let's go ahead and take this from the top. Yep. We open up outside of a TV station. We're there filming the Johnny Sand Dance Game Show.
SPEAKER_03Yay.
SPEAKER_00We see Fred and Daphne on stage doing their normal dance.
SPEAKER_03Yep.
SPEAKER_00When the next contestants are Shaggy and Scooby doing the taffy twist.
SPEAKER_02The taffy twist. Well they thought it was an eating contest.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Although they're kind of a shoein' to win the competition.
SPEAKER_02They kind of are, aren't they?
SPEAKER_00Um definitely. When all of a sudden, you know, the lights cut out.
SPEAKER_01Uh-oh, what happened?
SPEAKER_00And we see a giant, hulking, shapeless figure, you know, appearing.
SPEAKER_03Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER_00And then they come back on and the station manager is gone. Johnny is gone. No. You know. No, what happened? Well, turns out Johnny's just tied up in the office.
SPEAKER_01Right.
SPEAKER_00Safe's been ransacked.
SPEAKER_01Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER_00Mr. Stevens is still gone.
SPEAKER_01Oh no.
SPEAKER_00You know, apparently taken hostage by this so-called wax phantom.
SPEAKER_03Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER_00You know, Johnny tells them that there was a wax sculptor that used to work at the station who was fired or whatnot. Yep. No longer there. Who vowed revenge.
SPEAKER_02They usually do. Yep. That's normal.
SPEAKER_00He said that he was gonna bring a wax creature to life known as the wax phantom.
SPEAKER_01Ah, okay.
SPEAKER_00And uh Johnny tells him, don't call the police because, you know, the station's been in some financial trouble and this sort of publicity is sure to ruin the station.
SPEAKER_02Right.
SPEAKER_00Yep. So you know, the game decides to split up. Fred and Daphne will go to the Wax Museum. Right. Shaggy, Scooby, and Velma will go talk to a Mr. Grisby.
SPEAKER_03Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER_00This the sculptor.
SPEAKER_03Yep.
SPEAKER_00So they take off on the Shaggy Scooter.
SPEAKER_02Right.
SPEAKER_00Which I'm pretty sure is the scooter that Shaggy stole from the side. I'm thinking it's the one he stole from its third appearance. Isn't this the second time it's come back after he'd taken it?
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_00So like three times overall of the time he takes it.
SPEAKER_02Something like that, right? Yeah, we gotta bring it back, apparently.
SPEAKER_00Again, he's an expert in Grand Theft Auto.
SPEAKER_02Apparently, we gotta see it again.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. No.
SPEAKER_00They get to Grisbees and Velma asks if they're chicken. When we hear an owl. Like, we're chicken, that's who. Yeah, they start arguing with an owl.
SPEAKER_02Doesn't go very well.
SPEAKER_00Pretty par for the course for them. Pretty much, yep. Yep. You know, they knock on the door and it opens, and the first thing I immediately noticed is Grisby is not person colored.
SPEAKER_02He isn't, is he? That's kind of weird.
SPEAKER_00I know that might sound racist.
SPEAKER_02But we know what you mean. It's he's not the right color. He's not human, he's not right for a human color.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, he's not black, he's not brown, he's not tanned, he's not like white. No, he's he's gray. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02He's like a weird charcoal gray color. Like it's really weird.
SPEAKER_00It's like a blue, like to me, it's a bluish gray.
SPEAKER_02Right. Yeah, it's a weird, like grayish color that it's like what's when we say he's not he we should have said it, he's not humanly colored. That probably would have been more. But it's something like that. It's like weird, like we never would have expected that.
SPEAKER_00If you're not a human, you're not a person.
SPEAKER_02Well, that is true. Yeah. It works. It does.
SPEAKER_00You know, they're wandering around, they're asking him questions about uh his vowing of revenge, and Scooby finds the ghost in a box and sneezes, because remember, Scooby's allergic to ghosts.
SPEAKER_02He is allergic to ghosts, that's right. Yep.
SPEAKER_00You know, Shaggy finds a pot and what she believes is stew, he's gonna take some and bubble ghosts come out, so it looks like it's some bubble ghost.
SPEAKER_02It's bubbles ghosts, too. Yep.
SPEAKER_00I honestly was expecting it to be the dirty laundry again, because it usually always is.
SPEAKER_03Yep. Exactly.
SPEAKER_00But they're not finding anything. So they go off to the wax museum where Fred and Daphne are, and they're not really finding anything. No. They get there, the door's unlocked, they go in.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, that's weird.
SPEAKER_00But the wax fant locks the door.
SPEAKER_02Mm-hmm. Yep, so he locks Fred and Daphne in the wax museum, and so he does that.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, and that's really about all that goes on with Daphne and Fred. Right. We go back to uh Velma, Shaggy, and Scooby, and they get there. Yep. The door's locked. Well, yeah, it is because it looks like Scooby's just gonna have to find a window to get in. Why wouldn't they have asked Shaggy because he's a swingingest gymnast in school? I don't know, but you know, nothing will get Scooby to go in there. No, of course not. You know, except for a Scooby snack, so almost nothing.
SPEAKER_02Almost nothing. Yep. And how many do we get added this time? Um, well.
SPEAKER_00She kind of just pours like giant handfuls. Right.
SPEAKER_02She kind of.
SPEAKER_00I'm figuring she probably poured half the box into both of their hands. So 20 each, so total of 40.
SPEAKER_02Okay. Sounds about right. So we can live with that.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. I mean, this is the last episode of Where Are You? I don't think we're gonna continue tracking Scooby-Snacks later on.
SPEAKER_02So I think this was just a special just for this specific series.
SPEAKER_00Thanks to the.
SPEAKER_02Unless you want to do it like in I mean, I could see us doing it like the Scooby-Doo show again if we're, you know, if we watch it, you know, those more and we see that in it. I mean, that I mean the episode episode-wise versus the Scooby-Doo movies, and I would see those sticking. Well, you know, when we get to what's new, we gotta do that as we gotta put the Scooby-Snacks back into it. I mean, just for certain I mean, certain things we could do different things to rank or you know, it for ear as we go on. Right. I I know that in the movies we won't be putting them in unless we see that we need to or something, but No, I think this one was for sure wanted to count them because of that during that marathon. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Those random episode tidbits.
SPEAKER_02Oh, right. The uh behind the scenes.
SPEAKER_00Just to want to see how accurate their guess was. No. No, it was not very accurate. Anyways, you know, Shaggy and Scooby find a window.
SPEAKER_01Yep.
SPEAKER_00You know, so they're able to get in. Yep. Let Velma in. Yep. So they're not wound wandering around.
SPEAKER_02Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER_00They get scared by the wax phantom.
SPEAKER_02Well, of course they do. When are they not gonna get scared by the villain of the episode?
SPEAKER_00Yep.
SPEAKER_02That's normal. That's up to the part for them.
SPEAKER_00They run into Fred and Daphne when they come across an airline ticket for Speedy Airlines. A ticket to South America. Oh could have just driven to South America. I mean. You know, it doesn't specify where in South America. Right, it doesn't.
SPEAKER_02So it's just whatever's on that little ticket.
SPEAKER_00They split up again, Fred and them are gonna go one way.
SPEAKER_01Yep.
SPEAKER_00Shaggy and Scooby have something more important to check out. Well, of course they do. They find a buffet table.
SPEAKER_02Yep. Gotta clean it up like they did.
SPEAKER_00And honestly, Shaggy.
SPEAKER_02Right? Use your bre like you're in a wax museum.
unknownUse your wax.
SPEAKER_00Don't you think it's gonna be wax food.
SPEAKER_02Why wouldn't it be wax food? You know, I mean I understand them wanting to go for food and everything, but you just entered a wax museum. Why would the food be real? It's gonna be wax. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00I mean, that's just definitely putting into perspective the scene in the first live-action Scooby-Doo movie.
SPEAKER_03Oh yeah.
SPEAKER_00Where they're in the haunted castle, tied up by the hot dogs. Yep. And they figure they can eat their way out, and it's plastic. Yeah, like really, guys? It's like, come on.
SPEAKER_02You didn't think they'd leave real food out in the setting where where it's always gonna be open like that, and there's gonna be people, all sorts of different people that you would think could be real food, you really think, but apparently they thought so.
SPEAKER_00But they end up getting, you know, startled by the phantom.
SPEAKER_03Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER_00And so they duck into a room and find themselves on the ceiling.
SPEAKER_02Oh, so then they're they're gonna know how a housefly feels. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00And well they crawl up the wall. Mm-hmm. Or down the wall. Down the wall. To the floor, up to a table that has a box of snacks. Yep. Scooby holds out his paw. Shaggy pours it from the box, and they all fly up to the ceiling. Or down to the ceiling.
SPEAKER_02So no more extra Scooby snacks to add. Yeah, they don't eat them.
SPEAKER_00They end up out of the room.
SPEAKER_02Because the phantom scares them.
SPEAKER_00The phantom grabs them.
SPEAKER_02So he's actually good at grabbing. I'm surprised he's actually really good at how slow he is and with how fast, shaggy, and Scooby are you.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, we weren't expecting that.
SPEAKER_02No, we were not. So this makes him a pretty so he locked the girls and Fred in. Or no, just Fred and Daphne in. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00And then he goes Well, Fred, Daphne, and Velma, they fall down on a trapdoor.
SPEAKER_02Oh, they oh he does that too. Oh, he's making himself pretty interesting.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, in which they're in a room in which they find money in the wall. Money. Yep.
SPEAKER_02Money.
SPEAKER_00Money. They're always in a baby in a hole in the wall. Well, so, but still. And well, Velma's mad.
SPEAKER_02That makes her so mad.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. There's money in the wall. Right. No, they're locked in a room. They can't get out. She's just mad. She puts her foot down. And then the secret panel lets them out. Oh.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, Velma. Good job. You got mad.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Way to go, Velma. Wow. Right. Wow. Well, they follow it down and they see, you know, room where the axe phantom has Shaggy and Scooby. Uh oh. You know, he puts them on a conveyor belt that's gonna drop drop them into wax.
SPEAKER_02But that ended with a silent movies, phantom old pal.
SPEAKER_00Well, thankfully, danger-prone Daphne is around. Thankfully, we Because she accidentally puts it in reverse. Yep. And Shay and Scoob crash into the Phantom and they make their escape.
SPEAKER_02Good thing he was there to make a crash landing.
SPEAKER_00In which we get the final chase music for Scooby-Doo Where Are You? With Pretty Mary Sunshine.
SPEAKER_02Yep.
SPEAKER_00I've got another weird song for.
SPEAKER_02I know, right? Definitely another weird one.
SPEAKER_00You know. We start off with some Shag and Scooby disguises.
SPEAKER_02Oh yeah, like for the cap. Well, not as memorable though. Like this. No, Scooby was uh honestly like the most memorable is either like we didn't want to say the barber shop from last week because that was funny. But then the where it's the haunted Chinese restaurant. Like that, I feel like it's one of the most memorable. Like I remember that one like the most. Like because we always that was another good one that we had a intro to the next episode.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. I was like, they're the better ones. Yeah, they just kind of wear whatever Scooby is in I don't know, fancy coat.
SPEAKER_02Something like that.
SPEAKER_00Something like it's she's in a dress with an umbrella. Yeah. Then they run off some more, just kind of running through the you know, wax factory. Right. Yep. They come across some paint, and they paint a door on the wall. Which is really expertly done because it is.
SPEAKER_02So he's an expert painted door maker now?
SPEAKER_00I guess so. He really above brown paint to paint the door frame.
SPEAKER_02Right.
SPEAKER_00Then the other uses black paint to paint the inside.
SPEAKER_02Right.
SPEAKER_00And then they paint over the black paint with brown to make a door, in which they put a little black doorknob. Doorknob. Yep. They duck off. Yep. Wax Anom comes by, he opens the fake door and runs straight into the wall. Right?
SPEAKER_02He gets in through the wall. So he's good at grabbing not so much with the smarts here, I'm thinking.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_02So I don't know. It'll be interesting to see how we know's being on the Manifest of Monsters. We're gonna have to wait for that one and see what happens here.
SPEAKER_00So, you know, we cut back to you know, everyone's all together now. Then they put together their plan. Basically, Fred's gonna use the wax shower. You know.
SPEAKER_02That's exciting of a trap.
SPEAKER_00No. But how are you gonna get old waxy over there?
SPEAKER_02Right, how are you going to?
SPEAKER_00Well, he says Shag and Scoob will be the bait.
SPEAKER_02What?
SPEAKER_00But there's one flaw with the plan.
SPEAKER_02What?
SPEAKER_00Shag and Scoob won't do it.
SPEAKER_02Ah, they won't do it. Okay. And they have a better idea. What is it?
SPEAKER_00Look out that window and tell me what you see. I see the wax fan. I see the wax factory. Friend the girls look out and say it's the wax pantry. As they do, Shag and Scoob just dip out. They do pretty good at that. Those two chickens fooled them.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, those two ch I got a hand to. Shaggy Scooby, those two chickens, fool of that.
SPEAKER_00So, you know, they're walking around. Yep. Find the phantom and get his attention.
SPEAKER_02Yep.
SPEAKER_00They run through the door, which Daphne Daphne bolts behind the Phantom. Right. Then Velma tosses a crate on top of the wax phantom. Bombs away. You know, in which then Fred yells, like, hey, lure him over here.
SPEAKER_02Well, yeah, that's the general idea, but he has to uncrate himself first.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, it's kind of a waste of crate him.
SPEAKER_02It is, isn't it?
SPEAKER_00Well, he uncrates himself. Yeah, he does. You know, Shag and Scoob take, you know, find a couple of dollies on the floor that they use as skateboards.
SPEAKER_01Yep.
SPEAKER_00Skate over that way. Phantom gets on one behind them. Right. Yep. Fred turns on the wax shower and manages to wax Shaggy, Scooby, and the wax phantom. You know, they wait until the sheriff arrives to unwax Shaggy and Scooby. Yep. Hopefully the sheriff didn't take too long to get there.
SPEAKER_02Hopefully not.
SPEAKER_00But you know, they start breaking open the wax to chip the wax phantom down to size, and it turns out it is Roger Stevens.
SPEAKER_02What?
SPEAKER_00Yep, the TV manager. The manager? Yep, the TV manager.
SPEAKER_02What? I I I don't know. I don't have words. How can you believe that? I thought it was for the weirdly colored girl. Weirdly colored.
SPEAKER_00You know, it's even more surprising because when we first see the wax phantom, we still do see Mr. Stevens in the shot.
SPEAKER_02Right. Yeah. Unless that was another one.
SPEAKER_00I think there's a purpose, a purposeful animation thing to not immediately suspect him.
SPEAKER_01Right.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. But it it is always interesting when we see who's going to be the villain.
SPEAKER_02First off, or when the or with the villain itself there.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. It's like it's I understand it. Like when we s like when we get the first look at the monster in later series before anyone from Mystery Inc. shows up. Right. And we see the person who ends up being the culprit there as well. Right. Because I say, okay, yeah, this is just an interpretation of the events, you know. Right. But like when Mystery Ink is there and the culprit is there when the ghost shows up, it's like, okay, that's kind of weird. Yeah. Yeah. Basically, he was embezzling from the studio, was going to dip to South America, letting Grisby take the blame for both the embezzling and his disappearance. Yeah, well, they're back on the road. Yep. Never find out who won the game the game show.
SPEAKER_02No, we didn't, did we?
SPEAKER_00No.
SPEAKER_02Huh.
SPEAKER_00More mysteries abound.
SPEAKER_02Ugh, and I thought we were done with them like last week.
SPEAKER_00Nope.
SPEAKER_02We get another one, apparently. Well, at least it's just one of them. At least it's not a whole bunch of them like we need to get rid of.
SPEAKER_00Well, don't worry. We have a whole new season worth of whole new seasons.
SPEAKER_02Yes. Yep.
SPEAKER_00You know. But Cheeky and Scooby get a souvenir. They do maybe that was their prize. They get waxed dummies of themselves. Why would they want wax dummies of themselves? Oh, because the next time there's a mystery to solve, the two wax dummies can go instead. Well.
SPEAKER_02That's a pretty good one, wasn't it?
SPEAKER_00Fred shows them the true meaning of friendship.
SPEAKER_02Oh, he does.
SPEAKER_00By telling, like, those there's one problem with their logic there.
SPEAKER_02Uh-huh.
SPEAKER_00How can they tell the two apart?
SPEAKER_02Well, one d one type of dummies from the others. Very funny. Yeah. Very funny.
SPEAKER_00It's not a true friendship if you cannot make fun of each other.
SPEAKER_02I guess that is very true, isn't it? Yep. Gotta all make fun of each other.
SPEAKER_00They all laugh. You get a brief moment where Daphne's neck is missing.
SPEAKER_02It is missing. I don't know why it's missing.
SPEAKER_00I think they may have just forgotten to color it in.
SPEAKER_02Well, and then oh she's laughing. Oh, we gotta make her we gotta make her neck short. She's gonna laugh. Okay.
SPEAKER_00But that's the end of the episode.
SPEAKER_02That is the other episode. Wow.
SPEAKER_00That was a pretty short. It was. You know, again, 22 minutes can be any amount of length of time.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, pretty much.
SPEAKER_00That's just so weird. And for being kind of straightforward, all in one place.
SPEAKER_02Right.
SPEAKER_00That's probably it was like a really just just disjointed episode.
SPEAKER_02It was.
SPEAKER_00But we have our fun responsibilities to do now.
SPEAKER_02Yes, we do.
SPEAKER_00So starting with the Scooby Snack intake, you know, we added what 40 to this week. 40 about, yeah. So that brought it from the current 193 to 233 Scooby Snacks.
SPEAKER_02Oh, geez.
SPEAKER_00One shaggy snack and one hero sandwich.
SPEAKER_02Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER_00We have now averaged nine about nine per episode. It's like nine point three two.
SPEAKER_02Okay.
SPEAKER_00So yeah, around in nine per episode. Right, yep. I think if I do the quick math, I think if we remove all boxes or half boxes, I think that's leaves us with what, 33 snacks per episode.
SPEAKER_02I think that's what you had before. So that's only gonna be like one per episode, isn't it? Like one point something?
SPEAKER_001.32.
SPEAKER_02Oh god. So Yeah, I don't know where they got their logic of six.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I think that they have just been spitballing in the dark there.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I think so.
SPEAKER_00You know.
SPEAKER_02Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER_00They could have also been using a different ratio for how many are in a box.
SPEAKER_02They could have been doing that too. They had to have count the boxes then if they were doing that, or they didn't do it, or it depends on when they capped it.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_02When they start it when they stopped, there has to be a Yeah.
SPEAKER_00They may have just like thrown out any random number and not care. Like they could have. You know, this was during like, you know, behind the scenes look of Scooby-Doo, middle in Kid Marathon.
SPEAKER_02Right.
SPEAKER_00So, you know, the same one that, you know, says that Shaggy is a vegetarian when later incarnations of Shaggy have been more vegetarian. I mean, but this one, ham sandwich.
SPEAKER_01Right.
SPEAKER_00Hot dogs. You know. The Shaggy here is not necessarily like Casey Casa may be a vegetarian. But but this current Shaggy is not really. Yeah, it's true. Yep. So, yeah. 233 Scooby Snacks.
SPEAKER_02That's a lot of Scooby Snacks. But it's 25 episodes, not every single one had a Scooby snack.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, last week said it. That was really weird.
SPEAKER_02That was weird.
SPEAKER_00So now we get to do. Should we go to the Manifest of Monsters or the Fred Jones failure files?
SPEAKER_02Oh, I think since last time we did the Fred's failure files, we probably should do the manifest. Do a little switch up. Alright. Oh boy.
SPEAKER_00Alright. Currently at the bottom, at number 29, we have Frankenstein's monster.
SPEAKER_01Yep.
SPEAKER_00At 28, we have the Ape Man. Twenty-seven, we've got the caveman.
SPEAKER_01Yep.
SPEAKER_00Twenty-six, we have the Bedsheet Ghost Man.
unknownBedsheet Ghost Man.
SPEAKER_00It's our own problem for having eight man and caveman together. That's like the one I say after is probably just gonna have man at the end.
SPEAKER_02Probably. Yep.
SPEAKER_00But after today, we get to move to a whole new manifesto monster list.
SPEAKER_03We do.
SPEAKER_00There's no way we're gonna continue this with every series on one list. We go it would take like half an episode just to read the list.
SPEAKER_02Right? Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Twenty-five is the fortune teller.
SPEAKER_02Yep.
SPEAKER_00Twenty-four, Vazkaz Castle Ghost. Twenty-three is Witch.
SPEAKER_03Yep.
SPEAKER_00Twenty-two is the Black Knight.
SPEAKER_02Yep.
SPEAKER_00Twenty-one is the Bald Werewolf.
SPEAKER_02Yep, that's last week's episode, guys.
SPEAKER_00At twenty is the mummy.
SPEAKER_02Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER_00Nineteen is the Minor 49er.
SPEAKER_03Yep.
SPEAKER_0018 is the Indian Witch Doctor. 17 is Captain Cutler. Yep. 16 is the long flowing hair werewolf.
SPEAKER_02There you go, long flowing hair werewolf.
SPEAKER_00Or hairy werewolf.
SPEAKER_02Probably hairy werewolf probably sounds better.
SPEAKER_00Easier to hairy scary werewolf.
SPEAKER_02There you go, hairy scary werewolf.
SPEAKER_00Fifteen is Charlie the robot.
SPEAKER_02Yep.
SPEAKER_00Fourteen is the ghost clown. Thirteen is Redbeard the Pirate Ghost.
SPEAKER_03Yep.
SPEAKER_00Twelve is the Headless Spectre. Eleven is Pietro the Puppet Master or the Cloaked Cavalier. Ten is the Franken Castle vampire.
SPEAKER_02Mm-hmm. Yep.
SPEAKER_00Nine is a Witch Doctor. Yep. Eight is the Space Kook.
SPEAKER_03Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER_00Seven is the Creeper. Creeper. Six is the Zombie. Five is Mr. Hyde.
SPEAKER_02Right.
SPEAKER_00Four is a snow ghost. Right. Three is Zento and the Scare Pear. Two is the Ghost of Elias Kinston. Yep. And number one is the Phantom Shadows.
SPEAKER_02So I mean, honestly, not that I was expecting this, but he almost seems like he should be in the top, top half of the list.
SPEAKER_00Okay.
SPEAKER_02Well, because he what, he locks Fred and Daphne in the wax pants. Yep. And then he gets the girls and Fred in with the trapdoor. Trapdoor.
SPEAKER_00And then Shady and Scooby and almost waxes them.
SPEAKER_02Right. So I mean I I I see him as being I don't know what you think, but I mean I don't know what you think, but if that makes sense. Top half.
SPEAKER_00Now in in terms of the top half. So yeah, that would end. So that would be between the Phantom Shadows and Charlie the Robot.
SPEAKER_03Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER_02Teno he's better than like the creeper or the space coop. We know that. Zombie's better because Zombie just grabs the he just grabs Scooby, right? And then Mr. Hyde gets shaggy.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_02He'd be up there with almost like the scare pear and the snow ghost, I think. Unless, I don't know, do you Oh. Unless you think he's better than Elias Kingston. Is someone better than Elias? Is the Wax Phantom better than Elias Kingston?
SPEAKER_00Is he better than the Phantom Shadows?
SPEAKER_02I'm not letting anybody be better than the Phantom Shadow. Oh, the Phantom Shadow and the Wax Phantom.
SPEAKER_00So put him at number two?
SPEAKER_02I'm Well, because Elias Kingston just grab well, he grabs three people, but it's the same.
SPEAKER_00He grabs well he grabs Shaggy.
SPEAKER_02He grabs Shaggy twice and then he grabs the girl from Sharon or whatever, I think. But I think he's he's not Brad in the Phantom Shadows, because the Phantom Shadows grab all the whole family besides Scooby, obviously.
SPEAKER_00Well, Snow Ghost got Velma and Shaggy. Shaggy off screen. Scare Pear got Daphne off screen. They got Shaggy and Scooby. Mm-hmm. Yep.
SPEAKER_03Although they also locked Fred and Velma in with Daphne.
SPEAKER_01Oh, okay.
SPEAKER_03I could put wax phantom above Elias Kinston. Okay.
SPEAKER_00If you think, yeah. Design-wise, like it's an interesting design. It's not like you know, not that Elias Kingston's design was terrible. No, but I mean it's just But like he still looked like a person.
SPEAKER_02Right.
SPEAKER_00This like actually looks like a monster. Right.
SPEAKER_02Wax Phantom right under the Phantom Shadow. I never would have thought he would have made the wax phantom shadows. There you go, wax phantom shadows. Wow. I never thought he would have made top two. Oh on the third page. I never would have thought that he would have made it to the top tier of the manifesto monsters.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_02I never would have thought he would have made it there.
SPEAKER_00I didn't think we were gonna get 30 different monsters in Scooby-Doo. Where are you? I didn't think we had only 25 episodes.
SPEAKER_02Well, we did a couple where it was a couple extra, just like we did a couple extra trap names. Yeah. We did a couple extra well, one of them had three monsters in it, so we probably had to do it.
SPEAKER_00In which we counted four villains.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, right. Exactly.
SPEAKER_00And then yeah, with the headless specter and the bedsheet goes separately.
SPEAKER_02Yep. Oh, right. Well, yeah, because they're both different on their levels of not with smartness, but with how they are, they're all different.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_02All right.
SPEAKER_00Let's get through Stread Jones failure files.
SPEAKER_01Yep.
SPEAKER_00At the bottom we have the tapestry. Yep.
SPEAKER_01Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER_00Then we've got the giant slide. Yep. Then 25 is the giant clam. Yep. 24 is mono tikitiya.
SPEAKER_01Yep.
SPEAKER_00Twenty-three is instant suds. Twenty-two is the crane and hook.
SPEAKER_01Yep.
SPEAKER_00Twenty-one is dogs. Yep. Twenty is biplane jousting. Yeah. Nineteen is balloon fight. Right. Eighteen is Scooby Strikes Back.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Seventeen is the fake train. Sixteen is Drum and Tuba.
SPEAKER_01Yep.
SPEAKER_00Fifteen is the wind tunnel. Fourteen is the Haybaler. Yep. Thirteen is the crate and giant magnet. Yes. Twelve is the mirror. Mm-hmm. Eleven is the tripwire. Yep. Ten is the giant snowball.
SPEAKER_03Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER_00Nine is lawnmower basketball. Eight is the automatic pogo stick.
SPEAKER_03Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER_00Seven is the chandelier. Yep. Six is special effects. Five is the trick trap. Mm-hmm. Four is the better mouse trap. Yep. Three is the rocket train. Two is the fine washing machine. And one is the money pit.
SPEAKER_01Yep.
SPEAKER_00So where are we gonna put the wax shower?
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_00I mean it does what it's meant to do. I mean, I mean Fred never specified that Jaggy and Scooby were not gonna get waxed.
SPEAKER_02Right. And he seemed surprised when they got into the trap too. Well you you clicked it on too soon, Fred. That was.
SPEAKER_00I don't think it was I No. Yes, he clicked it on too soon. But I will argue he probably wasn't expecting it to come out that fast.
SPEAKER_02Probably, yeah, that's probably true.
SPEAKER_00He's about as you come out. Like when they come like when they're all coated with wax, like you can see heat lines coming off. Feel bad for Shaky and Scooby there.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, definitely especially Scooby. Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. So yeah, he was probably not expecting it to come out as fast as it did.
SPEAKER_02As fast as it did, that's probably true.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, he probably figured, like, okay, yeah, I can get this on, Shake and Scooby will have time to get out of the way.
SPEAKER_02Right, and then I can get the Phantom. Right. Yeah. Okay, now where do we Um I mean I'm almost tempted again to say since it works, it goes off without a hip- I mean it works. I mean the trap actually works. It goes on without a par. There's no hiccups, there's no ungoofing, there's no nothing. I mean, I'd I'd say it's up in the top like it's in that top half of the list. Like I'm not saying where. Unless you don't think it Um I mean there are some that we know it's not gonna be Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Um Yeah, definitely top half.
SPEAKER_02Yep. I think it's better than the mirror. I honestly think it's better than the mirror. I don't know what you're thinking. I mean to start it, you know, because that's like the top half.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, because it's more of that not. Looking at the list, it seems like a lot of the um traps of convenience are in the middle. You know, the hay bale or the wind tunnel. It's like those work because like They were there. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02It's what was there.
SPEAKER_00The wax shower was there. Fred, you know, decided to utilize it.
SPEAKER_02So you want to say what it's aft. It's above the mirror, is that what you want or you want cause?
SPEAKER_00Um yeah. It's up. It's yeah, definitely 'cause yeah, the mirror was just like it was just simple, it was there. Yeah, it wasn't really the it wasn't the point of the trap like the the trap would have worked had it not been a balloon.
SPEAKER_02Right, yeah, that too. Yeah. Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER_00Now, compared to the tripwire.
SPEAKER_03Mm.
SPEAKER_00I mean, was was that there or was that I mean I'm sure they provided it because you know, because it's shaggy and Fred that get the ghost attention. Right. I think that's why that kind of goes off without a hitch.
SPEAKER_02Right. Hmm. I mean, it's not making the top of the list. I mean, we know that.
SPEAKER_00Well, we okay, so we know it's better than mirror for sure. Yes. So now let's go back and what is it not better than? Is do we think it's going to be better than the automatic pogo stick?
SPEAKER_02Probably not. With the ludicrousness of the pogo stick.
SPEAKER_00This is a digital jack and the lot of basketball. Do we think it's gonna be better than a giant snowball?
SPEAKER_02Oh, that's a tough one.
SPEAKER_00Is that situation just snowballed out of control fairly quickly?
SPEAKER_02No pun intended on that one.
SPEAKER_00Oh no, the pun was intended.
SPEAKER_02Oh, this is the one time where the pun is intended. Okay.
SPEAKER_00The pun's always intended.
SPEAKER_02Oh, it is. Okay, okay. Hmm.
SPEAKER_00So yeah, I guess really it's uh do we think it's better than just the tripwire that they use? I mean that I mean this was more interesting to watch.
SPEAKER_02Right, it was more entertaining to watch.
SPEAKER_00Although that had dropped the bed sheet ghosts and kind of I I know we ranked the wax phantom up really high.
SPEAKER_01Right.
SPEAKER_00I just I I like the bed sheet ghost. It's like I mean it's just because it was so out there so late in the seas in the series.
SPEAKER_02Yep. So what you want to say it's above the mirror and below the, or unless you uh you want to go up a little more. Oh, you want to go there?
SPEAKER_00I think so, yeah. Okay, yeah, we can do that. Below the snowball. And above the snowball. But above the s yeah.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_00So just barely outside of the top ten. Right. At number 11.
SPEAKER_02All right. Wow, here we go. There's our trap list.
SPEAKER_00And that just leaves one last responsibility for Scooby-Doo. Where are you for us?
SPEAKER_03Yep.
SPEAKER_02That's where we're.
SPEAKER_00How many Scooby snacks does this episode bring to our table of snacks?
SPEAKER_02Hmm. I mean, that's a tough one. I mean, I know we're not. It probably isn't one that's gonna be rated a five. I'm pretty sure. No, and I think it's still close to a four. I mean, I could be wrong, but I'm thinking it could be as a chase, yeah, it's the music, it's got the chasing, as uh shenanigans with shaky and scooby, you know.
SPEAKER_00But everything feels so fast.
SPEAKER_02Right. It feels so rushed. Yeah. Because it doesn't feel like it's a 22-minute episode. It feels like it's even shorter than that.
SPEAKER_00So then you go halfway through and you're like And I don't know, like, do we want our episodes to feel longer even though they're not? Or do we want them to feel shorter when they're not?
SPEAKER_01Right. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00That's always a double-edged sword, like isn't it?
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Yeah. So what you want to re I said four. Do you want to read a three, or what are you thinking? Three and a half?
SPEAKER_00I'm thinking. I'm thinking, I'm thinking. No, we can give it a four. Um yeah, it does a lot. Like it subverts a lot of expectations.
SPEAKER_02It does, doesn't it?
SPEAKER_00You know.
SPEAKER_02Coming off of last week's episode.
SPEAKER_00We needed no bribes to be bait. In fact, they trick they trick them into being bait.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Why would you do that in general? Why would you trick them? Because we know you don't like being bait. Why would you trick them into thinking you want to be bait? I mean, it was funny. It was pretty interesting, but it was funny, but yet it's like that's not what they normally do. They need to be they want their Scooby snacks.
SPEAKER_01Right?
SPEAKER_02Like that big ending, you know, where they usually get the bribe to go get the monster. You know, that's usually how it goes. That's usually always how it goes. They're gonna bribe to get the monster up and everything. And if they don't get it, then they're not gonna do it. We won't do it. Just so you know, we won't do it.
SPEAKER_00Right. And so, you know, that brings us to the end of this episode. Man, the end of this mystery.
SPEAKER_02And the end of Scooby-Doo, where are you?
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Man, it's hard to say that we're already here.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER_00So in terms of next week.
SPEAKER_02Yes, in terms of next week.
SPEAKER_00We won't be jumping straight into the new Scooby movies.
SPEAKER_02Not yet, guys.
SPEAKER_00In fact, next week and this don't hold me to this in case my Okay counting and timing is off and everything. Oh boy. But next weekend should be the anniversary of Scooby-Doo Where Are You?
SPEAKER_02Oh jeez, and we finished it.
SPEAKER_00Hmm. That if yeah, if my sense of timing is correct. Yeah, next weekend, you know, that Sunday, the thirteenth of September, should be Scooby-Doo's sumnumberth birthday.
SPEAKER_03Oh jeez. Hmm. 57th.
SPEAKER_00Okay. That so it's kind of it's kind of nice and weird how this worked out.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it is.
SPEAKER_00Cause yeah, when I f uploaded that first episode back in March, which surprisingly was around Frank Welker's birthday.
SPEAKER_02Right, exactly.
SPEAKER_00Not knowing that when I posted the episode.
SPEAKER_02Right, exactly.
SPEAKER_00Next week we will be doing a kind of complete wrap-up on our thoughts and feelings on Scooby-Doo Where Are You as a Whole? Mm-hmm. You know. May or may not go over the quote unquote behind the scenes of Scooby-Doo, those meddling kids. Yep. Um what's the word I'm looking for? Documentary. That's just that's not a real documentary, like it was like what Target Network did in 1997, 96. Hmm. It was before the Scooby-Doo project. Right. That much I know. Yep. It was for a 25, 24-hour Scooby-Doo Marathon. Yep. Mm-hmm. Which the episodes were in between episodes, they had a behind-the-scenes look where it like had focus on like one specific member of the game. Mystery Inc. as a whole. Most of them were put on the VHS version of Scooby-Doo's Greatest Mysteries. Right. The only one that was not put onto that VHS tape was one that had to deal with the villains.
SPEAKER_02Oh, yeah, the villains for some reason wasn't put on there.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, little in bet during episodes, random factoids would pop up on screen, which is where we found the factoid about the average of six snacks per episode, which led to us keeping track.
SPEAKER_02It did, didn't it?
SPEAKER_00Probably won't continue that through the rest of the series. Right. Or we might and just not make them.
SPEAKER_02Episodes that are more like not the Scooby-Doo movies, we're not gonna do it for that. But I if we get to like the Scooby-Doo show and we spiel there's an amount. I mean, what's through Scooby-Doo?
SPEAKER_00I could definitely see a it'll be where we won't be trying to count each snack individually. So it's like if they get a handful of snacks or a whole box, like it will be labeled one handful, one box.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Whereas here, like, yeah, we wanted to test that number. Right.
SPEAKER_02Yep. Yeah, we could do like one snack, one box, or one handful. I mean, depending on how we want to do it. So that will be as precise as we were in this part of it.
SPEAKER_00So that will be next week.
SPEAKER_02Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER_00And then the following week, yeah, w which will be the start of season two of the Scooby Zone.
SPEAKER_03Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER_00Season two, guys. Instead of starting right off the cuff with what is it? The Ghost of the Red Baron. What is the first episode of Oh god. I know it's three Stooges.
SPEAKER_02The ghosts, the ghastly ghost town. It's the zoo, isn't it? Where they had like the something.
SPEAKER_00I know it was I knew it was three Scooges.
SPEAKER_02Yep. Going into that.
SPEAKER_00We will be covering the Johnny Bravo segment, Bravo Doobie-Doo, and the episode of the adult swim cartoon Harvey Birdman Attorney at Law called Shaggy Busted. Both of those were Scooby-Doo appearances in both Johnny Bravo and Harvey Birdman as kind of a kickoff to the new Scooby Movies, which was a series filled with guests. So figure we will start season two of the Scooby Zone with that. So then when we get to the Scooby movies, you don't have to listen to us blah blah round about the production history with that series, because and we can get straight to some three stooges goodness. Yeah, there you go. But until then, just remember they would have gotten away with it too. If it weren't for those meddling kids.
